Story

An experimental portrait of a young woman who suffers from her self-image. Her mental strains create a prison of thoughts, of which there seems to be no way out. A film about depression and self-loss, about creativity and delusion.

GRAPHITE ON CANVAS was created with a technique called Pixilation, like stop-motion animation, but with human actors, and is made from more than 9,000 still photographs to capture the mind of its protagonist. In addition various other filmmaking and art techniques are employed to create the surreal images: handdrawn animation, computeranimation, painting, typography, motion graphics and layered collages. Fine Arts meet Performing Arts, traditional techniques meet modern elements.
