Alex Weimer

Alex is co-founder and partner at MovieBrats.

He is in charge of story and project development, corporate marketing and business development. Together with Esther he is also responsible for script acquisitions and oversees international co-productions at MovieBrats.

With his previous company Alex was developing online campaigns for the movie industry and created some of the very first alternate reality concepts in Germany at the beginning of the new millennium. Through recent years he directed and produced several short films that were shown at film festivals worldwide and won several awards. He studied communication design with a focus on filmmaking at the University of Applied Sciences in Wuerzburg, Germany, and graduated with the feature length film IMPURITY. After relocating to Berlin he began working for Veit Helmer-Filmproduktion until, in 2009, he formed MovieBrats Filmproduktion together with Esther Friedrich. In late 2010 both joined forces with other longtime collaborators and former fellow students to form MovieBrats Films & Animation.

Alex is a frequent expert speaker, guest lecturer and panelist at conferences, festivals and universites focussing on the topics of 3D storytelling, crowdfunding for filmmakers, transmedia from a producers perspective and creative producing.
